1. On Oct. 30, 3025 at approximately 12:40 a.m., Sgt. Daniel Grossi
and Police Officers Carmen Benitez, Keven DeLaCruz, John
Rodriguez, and Brandon Cappelluti responded to the area of Fourth and Hudson Streets on
reports of an intoxicated individual. When they arrived, they located a man, later identified as
56-year-old Jon Gimpel of New York City, standing in the middle of the street, and he appeared
disoriented. He walked away when officers asked him questions, and he refused to be checked
by EMT’s on site. He began to act aggressively, pushing officers' arms away, while they were
attempting to assist him. He was placed into custody for his, and others, safety. As he was being
placed on a stretcher, Gimpel began to kick his legs, hitting some of the officers. He was placed
under arrest and charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement officers and aggravated
assault on medical service persons. He was released with a summons at an area hospital.
2. On Oct. 30, 2025, at approximately 11 a.m., Police Officer Aaron Font processed the arrest of
59-year-old Francesco Abbattiscianni of Hawthorne, who walked into Hoboken Police
Headquarters on a civilian complaint of harassment. Abbattiscianni was charged in connection
with an incident on Sept. 23, during which he got into an argument with another individual who
he then approached in a fighting stance and threatened. After being processed he was released on
a summons.
3. On Oct. 31, 2025, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Sgt. Harold Milne and Police Officers
William Vera and Thomas Graziano were flagged down at the intersection of First Street and
River Street, by an individual who wanted to file a complaint against an employee at The Lola,
102 Sinatra Dr. An on-site investigation revealed the man who flagged them down, later
identified as 25-year-old Antonio Tejeda of Morristown had gotten into an argument with an
employee after he drank out of a bottle of alcohol while on a line to get inside the establishment.
The argument became physical and at one point Tejeda threw the bottle of alcohol at the
employee’s chest. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with
aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a
weapon. He was also issued a summons for public consumption. He was released from custody.
4. On Oct. 30, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Police Officers David Smentkowski and
Stephen Chowanec were on patrol in the area of Fifth and Jackson Streets, when they observed a
vehicle accelerate in an unsafe manor. The windows were also tinted. They pulled the car over
and identified the driver as 19-year-old Alexander Hernandez-Blanco of Jersey City. Police
Officers Vincent Guastini and Mark Mooreman arrived on the scene to assist. Officers observed
open cans of alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle. It was discovered Hernandez-Blanco had a
warrant out of Jersey City. He was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters
where a breath test was conducted. He was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated,
driving while intoxicated underage, reckless driving, careless driving, tinted materials on a
windshield, and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. He was released on bail for the
warrant out of Jersey City. As per John’s Law, he was released into custody of a responsible
party.
5. On Nov. 1, 2025, at approximately 10 p.m., Polic Officer Kyle Seper observed a car
improperly parked on Newark Street, near Bloomfield Street. He approached the driver,
later identified as 46-year-old Paulo Barrera of Newark and noticed a heavy odor of an alcoholic
beverage emanating from his breath. His movements and speech were slow. Police Officer
Joseph Lupo arrived on the scene to assist. A field sobriety test was conducted, after which
Barrera was arrested for driving while intoxicated, and he was transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters. A search of the vehicle located two opened bottles of liquor; one of which was
empty. Barrera was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, open
container of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, and refusal to provide breath samples. As per
John’s Law, he was released into the custody of a responsible party.
6. On Nov. 2, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Police Officers David Smentkowski and
Zackary Guido were on the 200 block of Washington Street, where they observed a vehicle with
no license plate. The driver was identified as 23-year-old Konstanti Mastroperos of Clifton, and
an on-scene investigation revealed he had an electric plate cover. He was charged with tampering
with public documents and issued a summons for having merchandise to conceal a license plate
and unauthorized equipment. Mastroperos was released with his summons
7. On Nov. 2, 2025, at approximately 2:50 a.m., Lt. Saverio Binetti, Sgt. Michael Losurdo, Sgt.
Michael Straten, and Police Officers Zackary Guido, Daniella Simone, Carmen Benitez, Vincent
Guastini, Shyenna Vega, Michael Chen, and Matthew Bonnano responded to Dear Maud, 205
First St., on reports of a fight outside the establishment. An on-scene investigation identified 29-
year-old Jean Sarmiento of Ridgefield Park as the actor who hit another person with a glass
during the fight. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with
aggravated assault, possession of weapons for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of
weapons. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
8. On Nov. 2, 2025, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Police Officer Daniel Barron responded to the
area of Fourth and Washington Streets on reports of an individual screaming at pedestrians and
becoming aggressive. The person was located and stopped by officers on the 400 block of
Washington Street. Lt. Edward Sellick, Sgt. Roary Miller, Sgt. James Barbro, and Police Officer
Bianca Arroyo arrived on the scene to assist. The woman, later identified as 37-year-old Heliany
Uhalde of Union City, continued to scream and act aggressively. As officers tried to handcuff
her, Uhalde began punching one of them. She also spit at an officer and urinated on another. She
refused to provide her name. Uhalde was transported to a local hospital and charged with
aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and throwing bodily fluid. She
was later transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing, and she refused to be
fingerprinted. She was charged with failure to provide fingerprints. She was ultimately
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
9. On Nov. 3, 2025, at approximately 3 p.m., Police Officers Jonathan Figueroa and Shawn
Sodora responded to Hudson County Sheriff's Office, 595 Newark Ave., to pick-up and transport
49-year-old Jeffrey Wheeler of Hoboken, to Hoboken Police Headquarters, for processing.
Wheeler was wanted on a warrant out of Hoboken in connection to a bicycle theft in July of
2021. Wheeler was processed on the charges of theft of property and transported to Hoboken
Police Headquarters.
10. On Nov. 3, 2025, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Police Officers Mario Rodriguez and John
Rodriguez responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting where store
security had the actor in custody. An on-scene investigation revealed a woman, identified as 46-
year-old Jannibell Romero of Union City, attempted to leave the store, after only paying for
some of the items in her bags, and not paying for approximately $159 worth of items. She was
arrested for shoplifting and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where she was
processed. She was ultimately released from custody on a summons.
11. On Nov. 3, 2025, at approximately 10:25 p.m., Police Officers Nicholas Losurdo and John
Lawton responded to the 200 block of Adams Street on reports of a man who tried to force his
way into a building, causing damage to the front door. An on-scene investigation revealed the
man, identified as 43-year-old Miguel Zapata of Hoboken, did in fact damage the door. He was
issued a summons for criminal mischief and released from police custody on the scene.
12. On Nov. 4, 2025, at approximately 2:05 a.m., Police Officer David Smentkowski was on
patrol when he observed a vehicle with heavily tinted windows on Washington Street near First
Street. He also noticed the license plate hanging loosely with only one screw, indicating it may
have been switched or removed regularly. Upon noticing the officer, the vehicle parked and the
lights were turned off on the 100 block of Washington Street. The driver, later identified as 34-year-old Efraim Diaz of Jersey City, got out of the vehicle, and locked the keys inside. An on-scene investigation revealed the plate belonged to another vehicle. Police Officer Brian Kim
arrived on the scene to assist and observed a registration card for a different vehicle placed on
the dashboard. Officers could also observe a large zip lock bag of marijuana in plain view. Police
Officer Trevor Thomas arrived to assist and observed a small cellophane bag wrapped containing
a white powdery substance suspected to be CDS in the driver's side door. Diaz was arrested. In
the car, officers located CDS believed to be cocaine, ecstasy, distribution amounts of marijuana,
and an electric sale. Diaz was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with
manufacturing, distributing, and/or dispensing CDS, distribution within 1,000 feet of school
property, distribution within 500 feet of a public building, intent to distribute marijuana greater
than one ounce, but less than five pounds, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also
issued a handful of motor vehicle summonses. After processing, he was transported to the
Hudson County Correctional Facility.
13. On Nov. 5, 2025, at approximately 1:50 p.m., Sgt. Michael Losurdo was working an outside
employment job near the intersection of Henderson Street and Newark Street, and observed an
individual, identified as 51-year-old Cheuy Quintana of Hoboken, walking in the middle of the
street. Quintana was asked multiple times to move to the sidewalk and out of the lane of traffic
for his safety, but he refused. Instead, he hit passing vehicles with his hands and yelled while
continuing to walk in the middle of the street. Police Officers Jessica Pizanie and Anthony
Hochstadter responded to assist and arrested Quintana for obstruction, disorderly conduct, and
resisting arrest. He was also issued a summons for walking in the middle of the street. He was
transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and ultimately taken to the Hudson
County Correctional Facility.
