Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

Please note that the vendor that supports our Code Red messaging system is still experiencing technical issues with all their customers nationwide and they are currently unable to deliver our Borough phone messages. We expect to have a replacement solution shortly.

Please note that the last day of curbside leaf pickup will be Friday, December 12. Thank you to the DPW for this year’s leaf cleanup work.

The annual Christmas Tree lighting will be at Huyler Park this coming Tuesday, December 9 at 6:00 pm. Join in the fun and take home some candy canes for the holiday.

A recap of our High School sports season: Boys Soccer - Finished 17-2, they ranked 3rd in the final Bergen County rankings, and made the semifinals in the County and State Sectional Tournament for the 1st time in 10 years. Coach Mike Carrasquilla was named Bergen County Coach of the Year. Girls Volley Ball - They made it to the Final Four in the Bergen County Tournament for the first time in nearly 40 years. They defeated #11 state ranked Northern Valley Old Tappan. Girls Tennis - They won the North 1 Group 3 State Sectional Championship. Girls Soccer - Qualified for State Playoffs; The girls had over 10 wins for the 2nd consecutive season, and finished with a winning record in the highly competitive National Division for the first time since 2016.

This Saturday, December 6, at the Senior Center at 1:00 pm join in for a fun sing-along holiday concert. There will be storytelling and an art demonstration. Enjoy some hot chocolate and light snacks!

The Tenafly Library Friends are thrilled to present a return performance of the popular group, Tree-oh featuring vocalist Lisa Kasdan, this Sunday, December 7 at 2:00 pm in the Tenafly library. Join us for this wonderful concert of old and new favorites. It's free of charge and no registration is needed.

And, this Tuesday, December 9 at 1:00 pm, the Tenafly Library Friends will be showing the movie, The Taste of Things. This 2023 French historical romantic drama won the Cannes Best Director Award and is a beautiful film honoring the art of food.

The Tenafly Holiday Fair Is Almost Here! Join us Sunday, December 14, from Noon to 5:00 pm in Huyler Park and West Railroad Ave for our third annual celebration featuring: a Community concert, hot cocoa + karaoke at Mel’s Butcher Box, a coat drive at RE/MAX Properties, food donations for the Center For Food Action with Temple Sinai, and holiday crafts, artisan vendors, and festive treats. A beloved Tenafly tradition—see you there!

Kicking off December here in Tenafly, the Nature Center is gearing up for Winter Break Camp running December 24 through the 31 for Pre-K to 6th grade. It’s a great chance for kids to explore the outdoors during the school break. This Saturday, families can also stop by for Crafty Critters from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, featuring a live animal and hands-on art. TNC’s year-end giving appeal is underway, your support truly matters. It is time for the Christmas season open house at the Presbyterian Church. Saturday, December 13, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Festive treats in the Church House Café, crèche festival in the old Chapel and the newly decorated sanctuary, with Christmas caroling at 4:00 pm. Free of charge, donations welcome. 55 Magnolia Avenue.

Experience the Community Choir and Orchestra concert, Sunday December 14, at 7:00 pm at the Presbyterian Church. Festive favorites, including excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Rutter’s What Sweeter Music, Holst’s Christmas Day, and secular music of the season, with carols for all to join in. Free of charge.

The Senior Center is holding a trip to see “CHESS” on Broadway on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Tickets are $210.00. Orchestra seats and transportation are included. Lunch is on your own.
