Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

Please note that today, Friday, December 12 was the last day to place leaves in the street. Going forward please bag your leaves and leave at the curb for pickup on trash collection days.

The Tenafly High School Madrigals will be performing this Saturday, December 13 at 7:30 pm in the Tenafly High School Cafeteria. This is a wonderful event for the Holiday season.

Our third annual Tenafly Holiday Fair celebration is this Sunday, December 14 from Noon to 5:00 pm in Huyler featuring: a concert, hot cocoa and karaoke, a coat drive, food donations for the Center For Food Action, holiday crafts, artisan vendors, and festive treats. Right after the Holiday Fair ends at 5:00 pm, head over to the official after party. A beloved Tenafly tradition—see you there!

This week at the Nature Center, it’s your last chance to register for Winter Break Camp, sign-ups close December 15. Families can also join the Seasonal Scavenger Hunt on December 13 and 14 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, exploring the trails with fun nature riddles. And on Sunday, December 14, volunteers of all ages are invited to help protect our woodlands at Forest Defenders from 10:00 am to Noon. Register today at tenaflynaturecenter.org!

It is time for the Christmas season open house at the Presbyterian Church. Saturday, December 13, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Festive treats in the Church House Café, crèche festival in the old Chapel and the newly decorated sanctuary, with Christmas caroling at 4:00 pm. Free of charge at 55 Magnolia Avenue.

Experience the Community Choir and Orchestra concert, Sunday December 14, at 7:00 pm at the Presbyterian Church. Festive favorites, including excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Rutter’s What Sweeter Music, Holst’s Christmas Day, and secular music of the season, with carols for all to join in. Free of charge.

This Monday evening, December 15, at 7:00 pm there is a Menorah lighting in Huyler Park. Hot chocolate and jelly donuts will be served. Everyone is invited and Veterans are encouraged to attend.
