Theft
12/22/2025-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male concealed various clothing items in a backpack and left the store
without paying. The items were valued at $225.22. This incident is
under investigation.
12/22/2025-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
female concealed several smoke detectors in a storage bin and left the
store without paying. The items were valued at $1,349.60. This incident
is under investigation.
12/23/2025-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male took a duffle bag from the luggage aisle, concealed various pairs of
shoes inside and left the store without paying. The items were valued at
$449.94. This incident is under investigation.
12/24/2025-Magdalena Brak age 38 of Garfield NJ. Officers
responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a
Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a female took
two smoke detectors and left the store without paying. The female was
stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer. The items were valued at
$151.86. Officers arrived and placed the suspect under arrest. The
suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be
processed accordingly.
12/24/2025-Juvenile Male age 16 of Newark NJ, Juvenile Male age
15 of Newark NJ and Juvenile Male age 15 of Newark NJ. Officers
responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on report of a
Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, three juvenile
males took various items and attempted to leave the store without
paying. The Loss Prevention Officer detained the juveniles until Officers
arrived. The items were valued at $148.14. The suspects were
transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed
accordingly.
12/25/2025-Tavin McCullough age 19 of Newark NJ. Officers
responded to the area of Watsessing Avenue on report of a Theft from
Auto. A resident noticed an unknown individual inside his vehicle.
Officers were able to locate the suspect nearby and placed him under
arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to
be processed accordingly.
12/26/2025-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Staples) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the store manager, a female
removed two Amazon Fire Tablets from the display case and left the
store without paying. The items were valued at $232.89. This incident is
under investigation.
12/28/2025-Officers responded to 35 Lackawanna Plaza (Buy Rite
Liquors) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the store manager,
two males took two beers and left the store without paying. The items
were valued at $7.58. This incident is under investigation.
Motor Vehicle Theft
12/22/2025-Officers responded to the area of Lawrence Street on
report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident parked his vehicle in his
driveway overnight and the following morning he noticed it was
missing. The vehicle, a white 2005 Honda Civic, was entered as stolen.
This incident is under investigation.
12/23/2025-Officers responded to the 300 block of Ampere Parkway
on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant left his vehicle
unlocked and running near the barber shop while he was getting a
haircut. When he returned, the vehicle was missing. The vehicle, a black
2023 Nissan Rogue, was entered as stolen. This incident is under
investigation.
These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to
the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The
information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and
may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed
innocent unless proven guilty.
