TENAFLY, NEW JERSEY
News Update from the Mayor
January 2, 2026

Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

If your recycling pickup was scheduled for Thursday, January 1, there was no pickup because of New Year’s Day, instead that route will be picked up this Saturday, January 3.

This coming Tuesday evening, January 6 at 7:00 pm will be the Recess Meeting of the Tenafly Mayor and Council. At 8:00 pm we will swear in our new Council-member Jenny Jackson and re-elected Council-member Adam Michaels. Both meetings are open to the public and everyone is invited to attend.

As we wrap up the year and welcome a new one, the Nature Center is hosting Crafty Critters on Saturday, January 3 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm—fun for kids and adults alike.

The Nature Center is also preparing for its Camp Open House on January 18, a great opportunity for families to tour the grounds and learn about upcoming camp sessions. Camp starts on Monday, January 19. From snow-inspired experiments to scavenger hunts and campfire fun, our school break camp offers new adventures in the great outdoors. Registration closes January 8. For details, visit www.TenaflyNatureCenter.org.

The Recreation Winter Program, Sports & Event Guide is available now. Sign up on Community Pass. Visit the Borough website under Parks & Recreation for more information. Beginning January 12 you can purchase a combined Pool Membership and Recky’s or Teen Camp registration and receive a $150 discount.

Join Emmy nominated and former Tenafly resident Nora Neus in a conversation about her new book: 24 hours at the Capitol: An Oral History of January 4th. At the Presbyterian Church, 55 Magnolia Avenue on Sunday, January 11 at 4:30 pm. Free of charge.

Experience Scottish Night in Celebration of Robert Burns – an evening of stories, bagpiping, singing, dancing, poetry, and tastes of Scotland in this tartan-clad highlight of the Tenafly calendar. At the Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 24 at 5 pm.

Are you 55 or older? Do you enjoy traveling, exercising, taking art classes, participating in a reading group, attending fascinating lectures, socializing with wonderful people, dancing, listening to live music, cooking classes, and so much more? The Tenafly Senior Center provides all of this and beyond. Our Center is much more than what you might expect from a senior center. Discover why more than 640 individuals have already become members! Make 2026 your year to feel inspired to try something new!

Enjoy the weekend everyone,

Mayor Mark Zinna
