Theft
01/12/2026-A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a Package Theft from the area of Arlington Avenue. According to the resident, two of her packages were taken on two separate occasions from the common area of the building. The packages contained clothing and a book valued at $75.00. This incident is under investigation.

01/12/2026-Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of a Package Theft. A resident received a notification that his Apple iPhone 17 was delivered to the store. The store manager stated only two packages were delivered, none of which was addressed to the resident. The package was valued at $1,600.00. This incident is under investigation.

01/12/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a male took several packages of underwear and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $299.88. This incident is under investigation.

01/12/2026-Officers responded to the area of Mt. Vernon Avenue on report of a Theft from Auto. According to the complainant, his Springfield Arms firearm was in a lock box in the trunk of the vehicle and was last seen on 11/27/2025. On 1/12/26, the complainant noticed the lock box was cut open and the firearm was missing. This incident is under investigation.

01/14/2026-Jose Severin age 43 of Bronx NY. Officers responded to 400 Bloomfield Avenue (Ajar Auto Body) on report of a Theft from Auto. The complainant observed a male rummaging through the trunk of a vehicle that was dropped off at the shop for repair. The suspect had two bags of clothing and costume jewelry that was taken from the trunk. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

01/14/2026-Officers responded to the 100 block of Whittle Avenue on a report of a Package Theft. A resident received a notification from Amazon that a package was delivered. Surveillance video shows a male removing the package from the front porch. The package contained an elbow sleeve valued at $50.00. On 01/13/2026, a package containing a football repair kit was also taken but no video is available. This incident is under investigation.

01/14/2026-Kevin Sales age 36 of Bloomfield NJ. Officers responded to 72 Bloomfield Avenue (Sunoco) on report of a Theft. The complainant placed her iPhone on a table while she checked her lottery tickets. When the complainant was finished, she noticed the iPhone was missing. Responding officers reviewed surveillance video and recognized the suspect and subsequently located him as well as the iPhone. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters for processing.

01/14/2026-Christopher Davis age 59 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a Shoplifting. According to store security, a male concealed candy in his sweatshirt and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $42.65. Officers located the suspect nearby and placed him under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

01/15/2026-Officers responded to the area of Merkel Drive on report of a Theft from Auto. According to a resident, her son’s vehicle was broken into sometime between 01/05/2026 and 01/15/2026. The vehicle’s passenger side window was shattered and the interior was rummaged through. There was nothing reported missing from the vehicle at this time. This incident is under investigation.

01/15/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a female took a handbag from the rack and placed three pairs of shoes inside and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $249.96. This incident is under investigation.

01/16/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a male concealed ten pairs of shoes in a bag and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $799.90. This incident is under investigation.

01/17/2026-Jasmin Grant age 40 of Belleville NJ. Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a female placed several boxes of coffee in a shopping cart and attempted to leave the store without paying. The items were valued at $206.77. Officers arrived and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

01/17/2026-Officers responded to the area of Evergreen Avenue on report of a Theft from Auto. A resident parked her vehicle on the street at 2:00p.m. and when she returned to it at 9:40p.m., she noticed the rear driver’s side window was shattered. A backpack containing an Apple Macbook Air and an iPad was missing from the vehicle. The items were valued at $1400.00. This incident is under investigation.


These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
