Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

Thank you to the entire Department of Public Works team for the incredible job they did keeping Tenafly streets clear of snow during last weekends storm. The DPW team had 22 snow plows on our roads, and the crews worked 24 hours a day to keep us safe. Thank you to each and every DPW worker!

The High School Boys Basketball program is currently ranked the highest in our school history at #14 in New Jersey and #2 in Bergen County, and received the #2 Seed in the County tournament. Boys Swimming is 7-2 and ranked 2nd in their section. Girls Swimming is 6-3 and ranked 4th in their section.

This Saturday, January 31, at 11:00 am at the Senior Center join in and celebrate Lunar New Year. This is a party you do not want to miss, and it is free and there is no need to register.

The Tenafly Elks at 20 Franklin Street are hosting an evening of comedy on Saturday, January 31 at 9:00 pm, doors open at 7:30 pm. Featuring two headliners, Chip Ambrogio and Richie Byrne. Sure to be a terrifically fun night, it is for adults 21 and over. $50 per person with a cash bar, dessert and coffee included. For tickets and details call Adele at 201-245-2911.

The Tenafly Library Friends are thrilled to have as their next Sunday Afternoon Concert the Bergen Ukulele Group or BUG, this Sunday, February 1, at 2:00 pm in the library. This most enjoyable family friendly group is fun and audience interactive, so please join us. It is free and no registration is needed.

Do not miss maple sugaring season at the Nature Center! Sap to Syrup is this Sunday, February 1, with sessions at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Learn how sap becomes syrup and discover which local trees can be tapped. Fun for curious kids and adults alike. Space is limited. Register today at tenaflynaturecenter.org

The Tenafly Garden Club invites the community to a presentation on Monday, February 2, at 11:30 am in the Garden Room at Davis Johnson Park. The speaker, Robyn Lowenthal’s topic is “All About Coleus.” For information contact Mary at mmlizzi@hotmail.com.

Enjoy a Tenafly High School Orchestra Concert at the Presbyterian Church led by the Orchestra’s conductor Will Farnham, an accomplished Tenafly high school graduate himself, at the Presbyterian Church 55 Magnolia Avenue on Friday, February 6 at 7:00 pm, free of charge.

The Highwood Ensemble’s oboist Bob LeClair, will perform with the Fides String Quartet. Works including a British/Irish folk song, a Canadian work influenced by the composer’s Syrian heritage and another‘s combination of Viennese and Czech influences. Both composers were working oboists before turning to composition! Saturday, February 28 at 7:00 pm, free of charge at the Presbyterian Church.
