Theft
01/26/2026-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male attempted to return a LED light he took from the shelf. When the
cashier was unable to locate the item on the receipt, the male took the
light and left the store without paying. The item was valued at $119.94.
This incident is under investigation.
01/26/2026-Edward Ward age 59 of East Orange NJ. Officers
responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a
Shoplifting. According to the Officer, a male took an iMako Precision
Drill Bit Set and attempted to leave the store without paying. The item
was valued at $79.94. The suspect was apprehended by the Officer and
placed under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police
Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
01/27/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male took three pairs of shoes and left the store without paying. The
items were valued at $239.97. This incident is under investigation.
01/28/2026-A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to
report a Package Theft from the area of Arlington Avenue. According
to the resident, several packages were taken over the course of several
dates in January from the common area of the building. The packages
contained various items valued at $159.89. This incident is under
investigation.
01/28/2026-A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to
report a Package Theft from the 100 block of Liberty Street. The
resident received a notification that a package was delivered at 9:00p.m.
When the resident returned home at 3:00a.m., he noticed the package
was missing. The package contained a diffuser valued at $249.00. This
incident is under investigation.
01/29/2026-Officers responded to the 100 block of Watchung Avenue
on report of a Theft. According to a resident, the building
superintendent and a plumber came into her apartment to assess water
damage on 10/23/2025 and the repair work was performed on
10/27/2025. On 10/29/2025, the resident noticed some of her jewelry
was missing. The jewelry was valued at $3,000.00. This incident is
under investigation.
01/29/2026-Officers responded to the 100 block of North 15th Street on
report of a Theft. According to the resident, the landlord and a plumber
came into his apartment to repair a broken pipe on 01/24/2026 while he
was on vacation. When the resident returned on 01/28/2026, he noticed
his father’s Rolex watch was missing. The watch was valued at
$8000.00. This incident is under investigation.
01/30/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male took three pairs of shoes and left the store without paying. The
items were valued at $149.97. This incident is under investigation.
01/30/2026-A complainant responded to Bloomfield Police
Headquarters to report a Theft that occurred in the parking lot of 67
Belleville Avenue (East West Market). According to the complainant,
a male and female in a vehicle asked for directions. After the
complainant gave directions, the female gave him 3 necklaces and a
bracelet. While the female put the necklace around the complainant’s
neck, the female took his necklace. The complainant only noticed his
necklace was missing after the male and female left the area. The
necklace was valued at $10,000.00. This incident is under investigation.
01/31/2026-Billy Hines age 53 of East Orange NJ. Officers responded
to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a male took various grocery
items, paid for two items and then attempted to leave the store with the
rest of the items without paying. The items were valued at $93.66. The
suspect was apprehended and placed under arrest. Officers arrived and
transported the suspect to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be
processed accordingly.
These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to
the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The
information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and
may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed
innocent unless proven guilty.
