Hoboken Man Charged with Narcotics and Weapons Offenses

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics and Gangs Task Force and the Hoboken Police Department arrested a 33-year-old man following a narcotics investigation. As a result, a handgun, two large capacity magazines, and various narcotics were seized from an apartment on Jackson Street in Hoboken.

Alexander Armstead, of Hoboken, is charged with Unlawful Possession of Weapon by a Person with a Prior NERA Conviction in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5j, a crime of the first degree; Possession of a Firearm while Committing a CDS Offense in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1a, a crime of the second degree; Certain Persons Not to Possess a Firearm in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b(1), a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(2), a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3), a crime of the third degree; two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1a, crimes of the second degree; two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7a, crimes of the third degree; two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3), crimes of the third degree; two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1a, crimes of the second degree; two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7a, crimes of the third degree; three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2), crimes of the second degree; and two Counts of Possession of Prohibited Devices (large capacity magazines) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3j, crimes of the fourth degree.

The narcotics and weapon were recovered during a court-authorized search of the defendant’s apartment. Three juveniles were present at the time the warrant was executed. Armstead was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

Prosecutor Mello credited the Narcotics and Gangs Task Force and the Hoboken Police Department with the investigation and arrest. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
