On November 14, 2025 at 6:48 A.M., a resident called the Secaucus Police and reported that their 2018 Hyundai Elantra was stolen from Pikeview Terrace near their home. Shortly thereafter, Secaucus Police located a similar Hyundai Elantra parked across the street from the resident’s home on Pikeview Terrace. It was determined that this Hyundai Elantra was stolen from Jersey City earlier that morning.

On November 16, 2025, the 2018 Hyundai Elantra that was stolen from Pikeview Terrace was recovered in Jersey City after it was involved in a motor vehicle crash with another vehicle and the occupants fled the scene.

Secaucus Police Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and identified Daniel Cartagena-Guerro, 18, and Chase Baisden, 19, both of Jersey City, as suspects involved in these stolen motor vehicles. On February 5, 2026, Detectives from the Secaucus Police Department arrested both at their residences in Jersey City.

“I praise the investigative efforts of my detectives and am appreciatiative of their diligent work,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “Because the criminal element works tirelessly to prey on our residents, my detectives will work twice as hard to bring them to justice, and these arrests are evidence of just that.”

Daniel Cartagena-Guerro and Chase Baisden are charged with Receiving a Motor Vehicle [2C:20-10.2(a))]. They were both lodged in the Hudson County Jail. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
