Call for Donation of Supplies

Posted Wed, Mar 25, 2020, By Staff Writer
Mayor Michael Gonnelli issued a statement earlier today updating residents on the status of the town's fight against the Coronavirus. In addition to praising the community for coming together during this tough time, he also asked residents to donate essential supplies needed by emergency and medical personnel.

In his statement, Gonnelli said, "Despite all the efforts, we need more supplies for our essential employees, first responders and health care workers, such as masks, gloves, gowns, hands sanitizer, Lysol, etc. Therefore, I am asking anyone who may have these items and is willing to donate to please bring the items to Town Hall and leave them inside the front entrance. Our staff will regularly collect and inventory the donations. This could go a long way to ensure we have adequate supplies to get us through this crisis."

The supplies needed include:
Masks
Gloves
Gowns
Hand Sanitizers
Cleaning Supplies (Lysol)
Sanitizing Wipes
Donations should be dropped off in the labeled box inside the Town Hall lobby at 1203 Paterson Plank Road.

Although the number of confirmed cases in Secaucus is now up to 11 at the time of this writing, there is no local outbreak like in Teaneck which currently has 145 confirmed cases. So it is obvious that the measures taken by Secaucus officials such as having its public schools switch to online learning early on are having a positive effect. In addition, Secaucus residents are doing their part by behaving responsibly and staying at home for the most part, as is evident from the town's empty streets.
