Secaucus Vaccination POD Fully Operational

Posted Fri, Jan 8, 2021, From Secaucus Township
Mayor Michael Gonnelli and the Town Council are happy to announce that the Secaucus Vaccination POD is now fully operational, functioning smoothly and administering vaccine to eligible members of the Secaucus community. The first COVID-19 vaccine at the Secaucus POD was administered on December 30, 2020. There is a small batch of vaccines arriving daily and as of January 8th, about 140 vaccines have been administered. As the functioning of the site improves and based on the availability of vaccine, we anticipate the number of vaccinations to substantially increase in the coming weeks. Based on State Health Department requirements, all sites in New Jersey including our Vaccination POD are currently only serving healthcare personnel, long-term facility residents and first responders (i.e. sworn law enforcement personnel and fire professionals). We will share information as soon as the State announces when the next phase can begin.

The Secaucus Administration and the Health Department are working on an online registration system that will allow residents to make appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine at our POD. As soon as the State announces that vaccinations can move to next phase of 1B, we will share information on how to register and make an appointment. Help will be available to residents who cannot access the online registration system. However, only those who fall in the current eligible category will be able to make an appointment. We ask for your patience and understanding as we move from one eligible phase to the next as this will take time. Residents may also opt to receive the vaccine at pharmacies or other medical facilities, where the vaccine may be available as distribution improves.

As shared earlier, State-mandated phases of eligibility for the vaccine are as follows: **
1A. Health care personnel, long-term facility residents, first responders.
1B. Frontline essential workers and persons aged 75 years and older.
1C. Persons aged 65-74 years, persons aged 18-64 with high risk conditions and essential workers not recommended in Phase 1b.
2. All people aged 18 years and older not in Phase 1C.

** Please refer to the State of New Jersey, Department of Health website for complete list of eligible individuals in each phase.
