Men Arrested by Secaucus Police for Attempting to Lure Children

Posted Fri, Apr 9, 2021, From Secaucus Police
The Secaucus Police Department received information that a 24-year-old man, now identified as Nicholas Signorelli, engaged in a conversation with a girl who he believed was fourteen, via an internet based dating application. On April 5, 2021, Nicholas Signorelli travelled to Walmart, 400 Park Plaza Drive, to meet the fourteen-year-old child with the purpose to engage in sexual relations with the child, but he was unsuccessful in that attempt.

On April 8, 2021 at approximately 8:55 A.M., members of the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division placed Nicholas Signorelli under arrest without incident, after a follow-up investigation was conducted.

Since the Secaucus Police Department became aware that this internet dating application was used to lure a child, Detectives from the Anti-Crime Unit, while acting in an undercover capacity, posed as a child on the dating application in an attempt to proactively investigate these crimes against children. Shortly thereafter, a 34-year-old man, now identified as Nevil Rana, engaged in a conversation with a girl who he believed was fifteen while also sending sexually explicit photos of himself.

On April 9, 2021 Nevil Rana traveled to Secaucus with the purpose to engage in sexual relations with the child. At approximately 11:00 A.M., members of the Secaucus Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit placed Nevil Rana under arrest without incident.

“Although the agreed upon meeting location was the only nexus to Secaucus, the Secaucus Police Department will exhaust all our resources to protect children and remove these predators from the street,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “I am very thankful that no child was victimized.”

Nicholas Signorelli, 24 of Springfield, NJ was charged with Luring, Enticing a Child [2C:13-6(a)]. Nevil Rana, 34 of Wallington, NJ was charged with Luring, Enticing a Child [2C:13-6(a)], Criminal Attempt to Endanger the Welfare of a Child [2C:5-1/2C:24-4a(1)] and Obscenity for Persons Under 18 [2C:34-3b(2)]. Both were lodged at the Hudson County Jail. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
