On December 9, 2022 at 2:07 A.M., a resident of the 600 block of Second Street reported that her surveillance camera alerted her that there was a man on the side of her residence/backyard. Patrol officers probed the area and Police Officer Joshua Sigmund located the man on Chestnut Street near Raydol Avenue.

The man, now identified as Ronald Brown, 35, of Brooklyn, NY, was found to have an outstanding warrant from Plainsboro with a bail amount of $764.00. The handgun had a round chambered, was loaded with twelve rounds in the magazine and had an obliterated serial number. A further search of Ronald Brown revealed a folding knife, suspected crack/cocaine, suspected ecstasy, suspected PCP and drug paraphernalia.

“This gun arrest is another example of the Secaucus Police Department’s immediate response to reports by the community of suspicious activity” Chief Dennis Miller said. “I commend the diligence of the officers involved and their commitment to serving the public. Confronting an individual in possession of a loaded handgun in his waistband, in the dark of night, is testament to the potential dangers our officers face. I am also pleased that this arrest was made without any incident and my officers are safe.”

Ronald Brown was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm [2C:39-5b(1)], Possession of a Defaced Firearm [2C:39-3d], Possession of a High Capacity Magazine [2C:39-3j], Certain Persons Not to Possess a Firearm [2C:39-7b(3)], two counts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance [2C:35-10a(1)], Possession of a Knife for an Unlawful Purpose [2C:39-4d], Possession of Drug Paraphernalia [2C:36-2], Contempt of Court [2C:29-9b(1)] and Trespassing [2C:18-3b].
