Mrs. Martin’s class celebrated the holiday by taking part in a variety of Thanksgiving themed activities. Students enjoyed looking at their classmates’ drawings and guessing what the turkey was. After, students listened to the story “Balloons Over Broadway,” by Melissa Sweet. Using a S.T.E.A.M. activity, Mrs. Martin’s class designed, created, tested, and used math to make their own Thanksgiving parade balloons. The students happily cheered and clapped for each other as their balloons moved down our parade route! The day ended with a donut party! Fun was had by all! https://youtu.be/Rnj_xITM1Pk

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES: Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place in Huber Street School on Monday, November 21st and Tuesday, November 22nd. SCHOOL CLOSED: In celebration of Thanksgiving, all Secaucus Schools will be closed on Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th. PICTURE DAY (ReTake): If your child missed School Picture Day, The School Photographer will be back at Huber Street School and the Millridge School on Monday, November 28th. In conjunction with The Ladies Auxiliary of the Exempt Firemen of Secaucus, the Huber Street Student Government held their seasonal Food Drive for the Secaucus Food Pantry. Students donated hundreds of non-perishable items. Thank you to coordinators Mrs. Stamm and Mrs. Leppin, who is also the President of the Auxiliary. The kindergarten students at Huber Street School have been learning about the season of autumn. This inspired our team to share our stunning fall foliage with students living in the south. We asked all kindergarten families to collect leaves in order to package and mail them to Stanley Switlik Elementary School in Key West, Florida. Mr. Millevoi, Ms. Bonner & Mrs. Balletto’s class participated in the STEM pumpkin games. During the month of October, we learned about the different types of catapults, the uses, and how they are made. Students made their own catapults in groups and worked through 6 stations to accumulate the most points.

Bad to the bone...

Ms. Choj’s Firsties are Bad to The Bone ! The students studied a bones lesson to get in the spirit of the season. Students learned that the human skeleton has more than 200 bones that help support our whole body. Finally, the students created their own skeletons out of q-tips.

David Paul from the Harlem Wizards visited Clarendon School to talk about the Harlem Wizards vs. Secaucus Faculty and Staff Charity Basketball Game. On Wednesday, October 12th, teachers from Huber Street School, Clarendon School, The Millridge School, Secaucus Middle School, and Secaucus High School will be competing in a charity basketball game against the Harlem Wizards. At the End of the Year Award's Ceremony, special area teachers distributed awards to students who displayed a leadership, knowledge, and skills in their special area classes (i.e Art, Band, Computer, Science, Spanish, Music, and Physical Education.) Students also received awards for participating clubs. Homeroom teachers distributed Citizenship Awards to one student in their class who demonstrates strength of character and leadership. On Friday, June 10, 2022, students and teachers at Huber Street School had the opportunity to dunk the principal into the dunk tank. He was dunked over 20 times!
